PONTEFRACT SPORTS & SOCIAL FC IS A COMMUNITY CHARTER STANDARD FOOTBALL CLUB

History

Pontefract Sports and Social Community Amateur Football Club with the South Pontefract Community Partnership, and Willow Park Junior School.

Pontefract Sports & Social AFC is a Charter standard development club for junior football.

The club was originally formed in 1971 and known as Chequerfield Rangers playing in the Castleford & District Sunday League Division 2. In 1973 moving headquarters and becoming Pontefract Labour Club they continued to play Sunday football and then in 1975 Saturday football as well.

We changed our name to Pontefract Sports & Social Football Club in line with the change of name made by our headquarters Pontefract Labour Club.

The senior side play on Saturdays in the Premier Division of the West Yorkshire League, with a reserve side in the Premier Alliance division.

We formed junior football teams in 1995.

Today we have over 18 junior teams who play in local leagues which include the Selby J.F.L, The Charles Rice J.F.L, The Garforth League and the West Riding County Girls league.

We have regular soccer coaching during week day evenings for all age groups run by qualified coaches.
